Ukraine planning to establish new embassy in Rwanda

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has announced the plan of establishing new embassy in Rwanda, Mozambique and Botswana.

President of Ukraine, Volodymr Zelensky is focusing on expanding diplomatic presence in Africa, hence establishment of new embassies of Ukraine in Africa.

Total of ten (10) new embassies are slated to be established across Africa after the establishment of embassy in Accra, Ghana. According to Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of foreign Affairs. 

“I am pleased to announce that the first embassy has already started working in Ghana. Next, we will open the following ones. This is part of our strategy for developing relations with African countries, the Ukrainian-African Renaissance, and countering Russian influence in the world.” Kuleba said.

Kuleba has visited Rwanda in May 25, 2023 in his second Africa tour which started with visiting Morocco, and met Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent BIRUTA, where both sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on political consultations between the two countries.

By the time, Kuleba wrote on X formerly Twitter that he discussed with Biruta, President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and food security and that they intend to boost cooperation in trade, digitalization, aerospace, construction, education, and pharmaceuticals.

“Ukraine will open an embassy in Rwanda,” Kuleba added.
