Veterans’ Club World Championship 2024 cancelled

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has announced that the Veterans Club Championship (VCWC 2024), which was scheduled for September 2024 in Kigali, has been cancelled due to the termination of partnership between Rwanda and EasyGroup EXP.

The Rwanda Development Board announced this decision in a press release on Wednesday, June 2026.

“The Rwanda Development Board (RDB), on behalf of the Government of Rwanda, announces the termination of its partnership with EasyGroup EXP, the organizers of the Veteran Clubs World Championship (VCWC 2024). This decision comes after careful consideration and mutual agreement between both parties,” RDB stated in the press release.

According to the statement, as a result of this partnership termination, the World Veteran Clubs Championship scheduled for September 2024 in Kigali has been cancelled.

“Additionally, the Visit Rwanda brand will no longer be associated with any marketing activities or branding by the event organizers moving forward,” RDB added in the press release.

Before the cancellation of this Veterans World Championship, many famous footballers had confirmed their attendance.

Among them include the former Liberian President and 1995 Ballon d’Or winner, George Weah, and other Ballon d’Or winners include English player Michael Owen and Brazilian veteran Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

The World Veteran Clubs Championship which was scheduled for September 2024 in Kigali has been cancelled.
