WA: A 40s woman attacked by shark near Jurien Bay
On Monday at a small island near Jurien Bay in Western Australia, the woman in her 40s has been attacked by a tiger shark.
The woman was submerged and bitten by a two-metre tiger shark on leg while on Sandland Island which is about two hectares in size, north of the town Jurien Bay.
Paramedics were called at 11.30am after she was attacked and sent two road crews and a rescue helicopter to Jurien Bay harbour. According to Guardian Australia.
“She is in a serious condition,” St John Ambulance Western Australia spokesperson said.
The investigation has started to the reported shark bite and the Authorities – The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and the Shire of Dandaragan – have temporarily closed the beach.
SharkSmart which is the WA government shark activity tracker has urged locals to “take additional caution in the Jurien Bay area.”
