When it comes to defending this country, I don’t need permission from anybody – President Kagame

President Paul Kagame once again reminded Rwandans that no one can ask for permission while they are going to protect and defend their country.

Today at the Kigali Convention Center, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame, Ministers in the Government, and Rwandans from across the country and the diaspora participated in the 19th National Umushyikirano Council.

In his speech, President Kagame spoke about various issues concerning the country’s life and its future.

Regarding the security of the country, President Kagame said that when it comes to defending this country that has suffered for so long and nobody came to help, he doesn’t need permission from anyone.

“When it comes to defending this country that has suffered for so long and nobody came to help, I don’t need permission from anybody to do what we have to do to protect ourselves,” President Kagame said.

“I have said it in broad daylight, I have said it to those who matter in this problem,” President Kagame added.

President Kagame said that Rwanda is safe and secure and will always be, telling Rwandans that they should sleep and calm down because nothing will cross the borders of the country.

“You go home sleep, you know don’t do anything, there will be nothing crossing this borders of this small country of ours, ” President Kagame.

The 19th National Umushyikirano Council started today and will conclude tomorrow. Rwandans will discuss topics including the economy, evaluation of decisions taken in the recent meeting, and the youth, which will be extensively discussed on the last day.
