Amazon monument in Benin has seen illuminated in the colors of Rwandan flag in solidarity for the 30th for the commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
Kwibuka30 started yesterday on April 7, with President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul KAGAME alongside first lady Jeannette KAGAME lighting the flame of remembrance.
The Amazon Monument was inaugurated on July 30, 2022 by the President of the Republic of Benin, Patrice Talon.
It depicts a young female warrior armed with a rifle and a sword with her head pointed upwards in victory.
The project was initiated with the aim of giving a new visual identity to the Republic of Benin and it was also an opportunity to pay homage to the Amazons.
The monument is the second largest in Africa with 30 metre and is weighing 150 tonnes.
