Australian women’s football team, also known ‘The Matildas’ has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after thrashing Uzbekistan women’s football team 10-0.
The match took place on Wednesday in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium. 54,120 spectators attended the match.
In first leg at Milliy Stadium, Tashkent in Uzbekistan on 28 February 2024 ended in the win of The Matildas 3-0.
In the second leg in Australia, the Matildas got a huge win of 10-0 to qualify for 2024 Olympic Games in style with aggregate of 13-0 in both matches.
The Matildas leads in the first minute of the game with the own goal of Dilrabo Asadova. Michelle Heyman, 35, scored 4 times in the match (4’, 8’, 16’ and 45+3’).
Also; Kaitlyn Torpey, Mary Fowler, Caitlin Foord, Hayley Raso and Amy Sayer each scored once in 22’, 36’, 38’, 68’, and 90+4’ minutes respectively.
Australia and Japan will present Asia in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. It will be the 5th time for the Matildas to attend the Olympics after previous appearances in 2000, 2004, 2016 and 2020.
Paris Olympic Games 2024 is scheduled to start on Friday July 26 and ends on Sunday August 11.
