Four people charged with cryptocurrency investment scam

Four people have arrested and charged with cryptocurrency investment scam on the Gold Coast where they scammed around 30 people, amount of $1.5 million.

They utilised Ponzi scheme and identity takeovers to defraud $1.5 million from approximately 30 people.

The charges was done between 2018 and 2021.

All of these were shown by the investigation done by Queensland Police for an almost two-year into cold call investment fraud or “boiler room” schemes.

The people arrested include three – men aged 37 and 36, and woman aged 67 – caught on March 11 and 12 and charged with a single count of money laundering.

They were from Gold Coast and appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Another man, 46, were arrested from North Brisbane, he was charged with four counts of fraud and one count of money laundering.

The man appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 25 and is expected to next appear on May 27.

People looking for big investment returns are warned by Police of Queensland to avoid any charges.
