Rwandan football legend Jimmy Gatete has revealed the best eleven (XI) players he played with in his career, whether in club or in the Rwanda National Team, Amavubi Stars.
Gatete announced his best XI on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, on Radio Rwanda’s sports program, ‘Urubuga rw’Imikino.’
When asked about his best players, Gatete said it was difficult to make a choice but he tried to list his team.
He picked Murangwa Eugene as his best goalkeeper.
The best defenders chosen by Jimmy Gatete are Sibomana Abdul as right back, Ndikumana Hamad (known as Katauti) as left back, Kalisa Claude and Bizagwira Léandre in the central defense.
The best midfielders that Gatete played with, during his time, are Jeanot Witakenge, Karekezi Olivier (known as ‘Danger Man’), and Jimmy Mulisa.
In the attacking line, Jimmy Gatete placed himself as the full striker, partnering with Mbonabucya Désiré and Kabongo Honoré.
Jimmy Gatete, a former player for Rayon Sports, APR FC, Mukura Victory Sports, and Ethiopian side St Georges, retired from international football in 2013. He currently lives in the United States of America with his family.
