Media personality and former NBL Player Corey ‘Homicide’ Williams born Corey Williams has died on Friday aged 47 after diagnosed with colon cancer.
Williams left Australia for country of birth, America, to undergo chemotherapy in New York last year.
It was after he revealed that he had diagnosed with cancer.
He later returned to Australia, Melbourne for more treatment.
While Corey Williams was battling stage four colon cancer, he didn’t hesitate to attend NBL activities.
He attended the league’s MVP awards in February where he was honoured with a standing ovation.
Corey Williams was an American professional basketball player but spent his time in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL).
He played for north Queensland’s based team Townsville Crocodiles from 2007-2010 and won MVP award in 2010 and leads twice the Crocs to the semi-finals.
He also played for Melbourne United, formerly Melbourne Tigers, in the 2010-11 season.
After retiring from basketball, Williams became NBL commentator on Fox sports and in 2021 was appointed as the Creative Director of Basketball for Foot Locker Pacific.
