NSW Police have arrested Penrith Panthers winger Taylan May on Saturday morning charged with domestic violence offences.

May was alleged to have punched a woman known to him during an argument in April, NSW Police statement said.

He allegedly assaulted a woman known to him during an argument at a home in Werrington on Monday 8 April 2024 and he punched her in the face and leg.

May, 22, was granted bail and will appear before Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, May 28.

NRL premiers were preparing to fly to Brisbane to take part in the code’s high profile Magic Round event.

The club has released a statement on Saturday afternoon about the issue.

“Penrith Panthers are aware of an alleged incident regarding player Taylan May, which has resulted in police charges,” the statement said.

“Panthers has informed the NRL Integrity Unit and will cooperate throughout the process.

As this is a legal matter, the club will make no further comment at this stage.”
