On Sunday, the 27th of May in France during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco, RDB CEO Francis Gatare met with Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the President of FIA, an Automobile Governing Body, and former Formula 1 Champion, Jacky Ickx.
Rwanda Development Board stated that they discussed opportunities for the development of motorsports in Rwanda, as well as the upcoming 2024 FIA Annual General Assembly and Prize Giving Ceremony, which will be hosted in Kigali in December.
In December 2023, the FIA confirmed Kigali as the next host city for the body’s annual general assembly. This decision was announced during the 2023 FIA Annual General Assembly held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Rwanda will also host the 2024 FIA Prize Giving Ceremony, which will be held in Africa for the first time ever.
The event is scheduled to take place in Kigali on December 13, 2024, as part of the 2024 FIA Annual General Assembly at the Kigali Convention Centre, scheduled for December 9-14.
