England and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or after scoring 73 goals in 65 matches. He thanked Tottenham Hotspur, the club that helped him develop as a footballer from the age of 11, saying it played an important role in helping him achieve his dreams.

Kane, aged 33, received the award on October 26, 2026, at a ceremony in London, England.

In his speech, Kane remembered Tottenham Hotspur and the important role the club played in his career. He showed that he saw the award as more than just his personal achievement.

He said, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without Tottenham. I was there from the age of 11.”

He also thanked the coaches and other people who guided him. He said their support helped him live his dream. He added that both the good and difficult moments he experienced at the club helped him reach this important moment in his career.

Kane scored 61 goals for Bayern Munich and 12 for England. He also won the Gerd Müller Trophy, which recognises a top goalscorer.

Other winners included Alexia Putellas, who won the women’s Ballon d’Or. Lamine Yamal won the men’s Kopa Trophy for the best young player, while Vicky López won the women’s award.

Unai Simón won the men’s Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper, while Cata Coll won the women’s award. Bukayo Saka received the Socrates Award for his charity work.

The Ballon d’Or was first awarded in 1956, with England’s Stanley Matthews as the first winner. Lionel Messi has won it eight times, more than any other player, while Cristiano Ronaldo has won it five times.

Kane became the fifth English player to win the award, following Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen.
