Local leaders and residents said the improved road will reduce transport costs, minimize post-harvest losses and strengthen market access for agricultural products  especially dairy products, which are a key source of income in the area. Addressing residents after the exercise, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva thanked  the community for their active participation and emphasized the importance of Umuganda in fostering unity, self-reliance and sustainable development.t Umuganda was officially revived in 1998 as part of Rwanda’s broader reconstruction and reconciliation efforts. Today it is held on the last Saturday of every month, during which citizens across the country engage in activities ranging from road construction and environmental protection to building schools and health facilities. Beyond physical development, Umuganda has become a key platform for civic engagement, allowing leaders at all levels to interact directly with citizens, discuss community challenges and identify local solutions.
