Rwanda is sharing its healthcare experience with Guinea as both countries explore ways to strengthen community health coverage and improve access to essential medical services.
Rwanda’s Chief Executive Officer, Regis Rugema, and the executive leadership recently welcomed a delegation from Guinea for an exchange focused on Rwanda’s healthcare financing and community health programmes.
The discussions covered Rwanda’s Community-Based Health Insurance scheme, commonly known as Mutuelle de Santé, Performance-Based Financing and approaches to expanding healthcare coverage at the community level.
Rwanda’s experience in these areas offers an opportunity for Guinea to learn from the country’s efforts to make healthcare services more accessible and strengthen the role of communities in the health system.
Community-based health insurance helps people access medical services through a shared financing approach, while performance-based financing links payments to the delivery and quality of healthcare services.
The exchange also highlights the importance of cooperation between African countries in addressing common healthcare challenges. By sharing knowledge and practical experience, countries can identify approaches suited to their own needs and resources.
For Rwanda and Guinea, the engagement provides a platform to strengthen institutional ties and explore ways to build more inclusive and sustainable healthcare systems.
As African countries continue working to expand access to essential services, cooperation and the exchange of expertise remain important tools for improving healthcare delivery across the continent.
