Arsenal FC’s Jurrien Timber, currently on a visit to Rwanda, expresses his excitement about the experience, calling it “amazing.”
Accompanied by his girlfriend, the 22-year-old Dutch international is set for a three-day itinerary, engaging in activities that include interaction with local youth. Timber, the second Arsenal men’s first-team player to visit Rwanda under the partnership, follows the footsteps of David Luiz.
“My expectation is to have a nice time. We have a full program, so I am going to enjoy the time. My girlfriend came with me. I think we can have a good time,” Timber shares.
Despite a slow start at Arsenal due to injury, Timber is optimistic about his recovery, stating, “I am feeling good. It’s a long process. A lot of hard work! I can’t complain about how it is going now.”
Francis Gatare, CEO of Rwanda Development Board, assures Timber a great time in the country’s “vibrancy and beauty.”
The partnership with Arsenal has significantly boosted Rwanda’s tourism, with 51% of Arsenal fans now more likely to consider Rwanda as a tourist destination, according to a survey.
In 2022, Rwanda saw 1.1 million visitors, generating over US$445 million in revenues.
