The Referees Disciplinary Panel (RDP) has levied a six-month suspension on assistant referee Mr. Juma Osire following a controversial call in the Uganda Premier League match between Vipers SC and Kitara FC.
During Thursday night’s clash at St. Mary’s Stadium, Vipers SC secured a 2-1 victory with a brace from Bright Anukani, while Jude Semugabi found the net for Kitara.
Osire, serving as the first assistant referee, disallowed Kitara’s equalizer in added time, citing offside. Video footage, however, revealed Dudu Ramathan and Kitara FC players were not offside.
The FUFA Disciplinary panel stated, “Osire is therefore suspended from officiating football at all levels for six months that comes into force immediately.”
Due to his repeated pattern of behavior, Osire faces further investigation by the Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.
