Rwandan domestic football returns to centre stage this week as the BK Pro League resumes following the international break, with Matchday 4 set to provide another test for clubs still finding their rhythm in the 2026/27 campaign. The opening three rounds have already produced an unexpected early leader. Gicumbi FC sit at the top of the table with nine points from three matches after winning all of their games so far. Their perfect start has included victories over Police FC, Amagaju FC and Etoile de l'Est, putting Gicumbi three points clear of second-placed Etincelles FC. Etincelles have collected seven points from their opening three matches and remain within striking distance of the leaders. Their position means even a small slip from Gicumbi could quickly reopen the race at the top. Gicumbi will have the first opportunity to defend their position when they meet Kigali FC on Friday, October 9, at Kigali Pele Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00. The leaders enter the match with confidence, but Kigali FC will be looking to turn their home fixture into a difficult test for the unbeaten visitors. Later that evening, attention will turn to another meeting at Kigali Pele Stadium as Gorilla FC face Rayon Sports at 19:00. Rayon Sports are still searching for their first league victory after beginning their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sunrise FC. Gorilla FC, meanwhile, have already registered a win and will be looking to build on that result. Saturday's programme includes an important clash at the top end of the standings, with Bugesera FC hosting Etincelles FC at Bugesera Stadium at 15:00. For Etincelles, the objective is clear: stay close to Gicumbi. Dropping points against Bugesera could give the leaders additional breathing room, while a victory would maintain the pressure at the summit. Marine FC will also be in action on Saturday, hosting Kiyovu Sports at Umuganda Stadium in another 15:00 kick-off. Sunday brings three further fixtures, with Sunrise FC hosting Police FC at Nyagatare Stadium, Amagaju FC facing Mukura VS, and Musanze FC taking on Gasogi United at Ubworoherane Stadium. All three matches are scheduled for 15:00. With only a few points separating many teams in the middle of the table, the weekend could produce significant movement in the standings. Two fixtures originally included in Matchday 4 will not be played this weekend. Al Merrikh SC's meeting with Etoile de l'Est and Al Hilal SC's clash with APR FC have been postponed because the relevant venues are being used for the CECAFA U-17 AFCON qualification tournament in Kigali. The postponed matches will be rescheduled, giving the affected clubs another opportunity to add points to their campaigns once new dates are confirmed. The early battle for the Golden Boot is also beginning to develop, with three players currently tied on two goals. APR FC's Djibril Ouattara, Gicumbi FC's Tuyisenge J. Merveil and Etincelles FC's Ndonga Bivula have each found the net twice. Tuyisenge's contribution has come during Gicumbi's perfect start, while Ndonga has helped Etincelles remain among the early contenders. Djibril Ouattara provides another attacking option for an APR side that still has matches in hand. Four matchdays into a season, the table can change quickly. But Gicumbi have already established themselves as the early team to beat, while Etincelles are making sure the leaders do not get too comfortable. For Rwanda's bigger clubs and the teams chasing them, the return from the international break offers a chance to change the story. The domestic race is back.
