The empowerment of young people has emerged as one of the key priorities highlighted during the latest Political Bureau meeting of the FPR–Inkotanyi Party, with a renewed focus on building a skilled, innovative and active generation capable of contributing to Rwanda’s future development. The meeting, held on July 17, 2026, brought together members of the party’s Political Bureau to discuss national priorities, regional challenges and strategies aimed at strengthening Rwanda’s development journey. During the meeting, members emphasized the importance of addressing regional challenges through dialogue, mutual respect and sustainable solutions based on the root causes of existing issues, rather than attributing challenges to individual countries. The Political Bureau adopted eight resolutions focused on strengthening national unity, promoting self-reliance and accelerating Rwanda’s transformation through effective leadership and citizen participation.

Commitment to unity and self-reliant development

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the principles and values of FPR–Inkotanyi in guiding Rwanda’s development agenda. Members highlighted the need to preserve achievements made in promoting national unity, inclusive governance and citizen-centered leadership, while protecting Rwanda’s dignity and interests. The party also emphasized the importance of investing in homegrown solutions, improving the use of national resources, expanding technological innovation and encouraging creativity as key drivers of sustainable development.

Young Rwandans placed at the heart of the future

Youth development was given particular attention, with the Political Bureau calling for increased efforts to equip young people with skills, opportunities and platforms to actively participate in national transformation. The meeting stressed the need to support young Rwandans in developing innovative ideas, taking advantage of opportunities inside and outside the country, and contributing to economic growth. The party further encouraged youth to embrace Rwandan cultural values, strengthen their knowledge and skills, and take a greater role in programmes aimed at improving their lives and advancing the country.

Responding to regional challenges

On regional and international matters, the Political Bureau noted the importance of strengthening Rwanda’s ability to respond to external challenges while ensuring that the country is not held responsible for issues beyond its control. Members reiterated that sustainable peace and security in the region require cooperation, accountability and commitment from all stakeholders.

Strengthening party effectiveness

The meeting concluded with commitments to improve the quality of party membership, enhance coordination and strengthen performance evaluation mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of development priorities. The resolutions underline FPR–Inkotanyi’s continued focus on youth empowerment, national unity, innovation and sustainable development as Rwanda continues pursuing its long-term vision.
