On January 1, 2025, Mugisha Benjamin, widely known as "The Ben" hosted a historic concert at the iconic BK Arena in Kigali. Performing before thousands of Rwandans and fans from across the region, The Ben marked the New Year with a stunning showcase of talent and heartfelt gratitude. The event, dubbed "The New Year Groove & Launch Album," celebrated the start of a new year while unveiling his third studio album, Plenty Love. Despite not selling out all tickets, the turnout was remarkable, and The Ben fulfilled a long-held dream of delivering a landmark performance—something he felt had eluded him since his 2009 concert. Overwhelmed by the emotional significance of the moment, the artist shed tears on stage. The show featured two segments. The first highlighted collaborations with renowned artists, including Bushali, Tom Close, K8 Kavuyo, Otile Brown, Kivumbi King, Kevin Kade, and Element Eleéeh. In a particularly poignant moment, The Ben’s brother, Green P, took the stage alongside P-Fla and Fireman to perform Kwicuma, paying tribute to their former Tuff Gang groupmate, Jay Polly, who passed away in 2021. Emerging artists such as J-Sha, Phil Emon, Shemi, Yampano, and children supported by the Sherrie Silver Foundation were also given the opportunity to showcase their talents, underscoring The Ben's commitment to nurturing the next generation of Rwandan talent. The evening reached its crescendo when The Ben, dressed in an elegant, custom outfit, performed back-to-back hits. The finale was unforgettable, with The Ben and Tom Close delivering a moving rendition of Thank You, followed by a patriotic performance of Genda Rwanda Uri Nziza to honor the leadership of Rwanda. The concert ended just minutes before midnight, leaving attendees with lasting memories of electrifying performances and heartfelt moments. The Ben expressed his gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, stepping off the stage with his dreams realized and his legacy further solidified. This event not only celebrated the brilliance of Rwandan music but also set the tone for an inspiring and collaborative future for the nation’s entertainment industry.
